Actor Michael Douglas’ son, Cameron, got sentenced to five years in prison on Tuesday at the New York City courthouse.

Cameron had pleaded guilty to drug charges in January and was facing as much as a minimum of 10 years in jail. However, the judge gave the much lesser sentence of five years because Cameron cooperated with the authorities. At least that’s what’s on record.

It seems, however, that Cameron’s famous family may have had something to do with his short sentence; if not for their celebrity status, then at least it was due to the letters his dad, grandfather and step-mom wrote to the judge.

Apparently, Michael, Cameron’s grandfather Kirk Douglas and step-mom Catherine Zeta-Jones, each hand-wrote personal notes to the judge asking him to be lenient with Cameron.
